Jacobin magazine is a quarterly publication (circulation 20,000) and online presence (58k Twitter followers) that’s described as a “leading voice of the American left, offering socialist perspectives on politics, economics, and culture.” It was established by 22-year-old political writer Bhaskar Sunkara in New York in 2011. The publication is gaining more popularity now that Americans have with a Democratic presidential candidate who isn’t afraid to use the world “socialism.”
According to Jacobin editor Connor Kilpatrick on Facebook, “All these ‘[state name] for Bernie’ twitter accounts are telling their followers to read Jacobin. Awesome.” Subscriptions help play for projects including Jacobin’s latest endeavor — publishing The ABC’s of Socialism booklet. An individual digital subscription goes for $20, a print and digital subscription is $30. Individual copies are also available for purchase.
