Despite being the number one seed in the 2015 College Football Playoff and remaining the only undefeated team in FBS college football, the Clemson Tigers have opened up as seven point underdogs against the #2 Alabama Crimson Tide for the CFP Championship. Alabama and Clemson will play each other for the National Championship Monday, January 11 in Glendale, AZ.
It will be the second time Clemson will be the underdog in the playoffs. The Oklahoma Sooners were favored by four in the Orange Bowl against Clemson Thursday night. Clemson won by a score of 37-17 and had several possessions end within striking distance of the end zone, which prevented the rout of the Sooners from becoming a true blowout. In response to the Tigers upset win, receiver Charone Peake stated, “For some reason, we were underdogs in the playoffs. I was glad to see us come out and dominate.” A similar performance against the Tide and the Tigers will prove the oddsmakers wrong again.
