You might have heard of this little indie film called Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It’s proving rather popular, even before it officially opens, with fans finding creative ways to honor it, and the Internet doing what it does best, generating useless memes, which is all great fun for Star Wars nerds — as long as they don’t wear masks or bring lightsabers into screenings. British weather presenter Sian Welby — with a name like that, she wouldn’t be out of place in a galaxy far, far away, but then again she might just be from Wales, a place even more desolate than Dagobah — is a bit of a Star Wars nerd. She managed to cram in some quite groan-worthy Star Wars puns into Wednesday’s Channel 5 broadcast.
Among the highlights (or lowlights) are “If you Luke father west, you will see a glimmer of sunshine if you’re Wookie,” and “If you’re forced to awaken early tomorrow morning, it’ll be on the dark side.” This is not Welby’s first time to geek out while doing the weather. In October she celebrated Back to the Future Day with some time-travel puns.
