The trailer for the film Star Trek Beyond dropped and not everyone is thrilled with it. Actor George Takei who played Captain Sulu told Tech Insider that the trailer was missing “that element that made Star Trek – Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek – what it was.” Takei gives a backhanded compliment with “It looks like a terrific action-adventure movie.”
Comic Book Resources reports that many diehard Trek-fans are disappointed. “There’s a consensus that the franchise has dumbed-down from what it once was.” Actor Wil Wheaton who portrayed Ensign Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation referred to the trailer as “a generic science fiction action movie, but it was all dressed up in Star Trek costumes.” P.S. Wheaton will dressed in a Star Trek costume on The Big Bang Theory on December 16, hours before Star Wars — The Force Awakens opens in theaters.
