In the small town of North, South Carolina (popular 813), Police Chief Mark Fallaw quit his position after 14 years following a disagreement with the newly-elected mayor, Patty Carson. According to WLTX, Fallaw says “Carson issued a gag order on the department saying they were not able to speak to media members and she would handle all requests.” He also claims that the new mayor also “requested a two-week notice on any public appearances and also wanted to monitor incoming and outgoing department emails.”
All of the police officers in North, South Carolina resigned immediately after Fallaw quit. The county, Orange County, has taken over the responsibilities of the town’s police force. When News 19 called Carson she refused to comment, “saying she will not discuss personnel issues in a public forum.”
