Three-time Grammy winner Darius Rucker is hosting the TV special, American Country Countdown’s Top 10 Stories of 2015. Although the list doesn’t include the top two sad but juicy stories – the surprising divorces of Reba McEntire and her husband of 26 years Narvel Blackstock, and of Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton – it does shine its positive light on new female singers including 31-year-old Cam (born Camaron Marvel Ochs). Cam’s hit single “Burning House” on her album Untamed just went platinum. “Burning House” is the highest-selling single of any female country singer for the year 2015.

Cam told Fox 59 that people didn’t expect the song to do well on the radio “because it’s a slower ballad, and it’s a song about regret,” she said. “I had a bad breakup and it was my fault. What’s cool is that that’s what it seems everyone is connecting to.” Cam said when she moved from California to Nashville five years ago she tried writing first. She got entry level job offers but as she said of that time, “If I’m going to risk everything and have no money and sleep on an air mattress, why don’t I do it for my own vision.” Her fans are glad she went for it. American Country Countdown’s Top 10 Stories of 2015 airs December 17 at 8pm on FOX.
