On the Empire episode “True Love Never,” Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) continues to push doors open for her Lyon Dynasty while her ex-husband Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) plots to make media empire Empire even bigger. Along the way, Lucious meets with a number of people including the founder of a streaming media company, Jago Locke (Patrick Mulvey) — and a man named Huey makes a cameo appearance.

Huey is portrayed by Clarence Williams III. He is perhaps best loved for his role as Linc Hayes in the popular counterculture TV cop show Mod Squad (1968-1973). After spending two years in the US Air Force, Williams launched his acting career in 1960. His career started on Broadway (The Long Dream, Slow Dance on the Killing Ground). Williams is also recognized for his roles in the films Purple Rain (Prince’s father), I’m Gonna Git You Sucka (Kalinga), The General’s Daughter (Col. George Fowler), Half Baked (Samson Simpson), and most recently in Lee Daniels’ The Butler (Maynard), among others.
