In the Agents of SHIELD episode “4,722 Hours,” Jemma Simmons reveals how she had to fight for her life on another planet. It’s going to take her a while to readjust to being home. The arrival of Gideon Malick,a former member of the World Security Council, won’t set her mind at ease. According to Marvel TV executive producer Jeph Loeb, “Gideon is incredibly menacing and in him we have a character that even the stone-cold Grant Ward would fear.”
Gideon is portrayed by Powers Boothe. The veteran actor has been in several TV shows and films. He’s best known for his role as cult leader Jim Jones in the 1980 TV movie Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones, which won him an Emmy. Boothe is also recognized for his role as Gorilla Grodd/Red Tornado in Justice League, Cy Tolliver in Deadwood, Vice President Noah Daniels in 24, and most recently Lamar Wyatt on Nashville. Agents of SHIELD airs Tuesdays at 9pm on ABC.
