Caltech string theorist Barry Kripke reappears in Season 9 of The Big Bang Theory. In the episode “The Perspiration Implementation,” the unlikable colleague of Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons) gives the guys fencing lessons. While explaining what a “touch” is, Barry lets it be known to Sheldon that he’s interested in dating Sheldon’s ex, Amy (Mayim Bialik). Big Bang Theory fans will remember that last season Amy shared her insight on neuronal conductivity and how it’s applicable to string theory — which made Barry’s research paper a big hit.
