Stanford University has a tremendous football team this year, led by some student-athletes who take that double designation seriously. Perhaps none exemplify the spirit of The Cardinal as well as team captain Joshua Garnett, No. 51.
[No. 8 Stanford Cardinal Feels Unstoppable]
Garnett succinctly and aptly describes himself on Twitter as: “Athlete and future Doctor. Captain and #51 for the Stanford Cardinal. Blessed.” Blessed also describes the complete opposite of how it feels when big Josh Garnett runs into you. (See below.) Garnett is doing absolutely everything right for No. 8 ranked Stanford right now. But he’ll have to change his ways in the future to pursue his passion for medicine and become a physician. After all, the Hippocratic oath requires of doctors: “First, do no harm.” Out on the football field Garnett is not just causing harm he’s wreaking havoc. The 6’5″ 320-pound senior biology major will surely have a different approach to medicine!
