Shauna Tiaffay was a beautiful, blonde cocktail waitress in Las Vegas at the Palms. She met her husband George Tiaffay, a West Point graduate who worked as a firefighter with the Las Vegas Fire Department, at the casino. They got married and had a daughter, Maddie. Their friends say George waited on his wife and daughter hand and foot. But the couple’s happiness eventually diminished. Shauna wanted a divorce. They were living apart.
[George Tiaffay, Las Vegas Firefighter, Brought Daughter To Murder Scene]
On September 29, 2012, in the early morning hours, when Shauna got home from work, there was someone waiting in her apartment. He sneaked up behind her and beat her to death with a hammer. George Tiaffay allegedly hired a homeless man named Noel “Greyhound” Stevens to kill Shauna. George Tiaffay and Noel Stevens, who had a violent past, had been friends for years. Tiaffay promised Stevens $5,000 for the hit. Stevens pleaded guilty to murder, robbery, burglary, and conspiracy charges, the same charges George Tiaffay faced. In September 2015, Tiaffay was sentenced to life in prison without parole. 48 Hours will air its investigative report on October 17 at 10pm on CBS.
