Las Vegas cocktail waitress Shauna Tiaffay was brutally beaten to death with a hammer in her apartment in 2012. Her husband George Tiaffay, a West Point graduate and Las Vegas firefighter, hired a homeless man, Noel “Greyhound” Stevens, to kill her. The Tiaffays were separated at the time and going through a divorce. Stevens pleaded guilty to all charges. Stevens testified that Tiaffay first offered him $1000 for the hit. When he upped the price to $5000, Stevens said, he “listened more closely.”

Stevens revealed that Tiaffay was to pay Stevens $100 per week for the job. They discussed a number of ways to kill Tiaffay’s wife including putting a bag over her head. But Stevens said he worried that she would scratch him and get his DNA under her nails. Stevens also said that the firefighter gave him the key to his wife’s apartment and told him to make it look like a robbery. Stevens left the garage door open as a sign to Tiaffay that the job was done. 48 Hours will air its investigative report of Shauna Tiaffay’s murder on October 17 at 10pm on CBS.
