“I love this cornbread so much I want to take it behind the middle school and get it pregnant,” Tracy Jordan says to laughter on 30 Rock. It’s not just Tracy Morgan’s delivery of the line that makes it work, it’s how his face lights up at the reaction (see below). Morgan has wanted to get many things pregnant behind the middle school in his career, including Benihana restaurants.
But at the 2015 Emmy Awards he planted his seed in a very fancy crowd, and it wasn’t behind the middle school either. Morgan appeared and delighted everyone who’d been worried about the comedian since his near fatal car accident 15 months ago. Morgan was in strong form at the show and, typically, promised he was going to “get a whole lot of women pregnant” at the after party. But what Morgan really will try to impregnate with his special brand of humor is his former stomping grounds, Saturday Night Live. Morgan will return to host the show on October 17.
