Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t after you. Donald Trump did a five-plus-minute phone interview with Savannah Guthrie on NBC’s Today show during which he lambasted NBC’s coverage of his campaign. By one measure, it’s tough to see how NBC is really after Trump, since it’s giving him more than five full minutes of its national broadcast to speak his mind. But Trump did bring up an objection about how NBC is portraying his campaign that seemed hard to refute.
[Trump Proudly Says ‘White Lives Matter’]
NBC has done a poll showing Trump ahead of new second-place GOP candidate Carly Fiorina by 29% to 11%. But instead of showing that poll on the show, NBC decided to show a CNN poll. Trump’s also winning there, but by a smaller (and narrowing) margin: Trump 24%; Fiorina 15%. “Why aren’t you talking about your own poll?” Trump sensibly asked. “Why are you showing a CNN poll, which is very good, but not as good as the one [NBC poll] you put up yesterday?” Trump doesn’t want randomly selected polls controlling the narrative of how he’s doing, so he called NBC on it, making the network look biased. Guthrie had no answer to Trump’s question. This summer NBC cut its business ties with Trump after he made what it considered insensitive comments about immigration.
