The final round of the GOP presidential debates will be held at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California. It will be broadcast live on September 16, beginning at 8pm on CNN. Eleven hopefuls — Donald Trump, Jeb Bush, Carly Fiorina, Mark Rubio, Dr. Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee, John Kasich, Rand Paul, Chris Christie, and Scott Walker — will participate in the prime-time debate. This debate will be moderated by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, and conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt.
The white-haired 59-year-old Hewitt hosts The Hugh Hewitt Show on the Salem Radio Network (weekday, 6-9pm ET), and is a law professor at Chapman University School of Law. (He’s a Harvard and University of Michigan Law grad.) Hewitt feels at home at the Reagan Library, as he worked in many posts in the Reagan administration including Deputy Director and General Counsel of the Office of Personnel Management, and General Counsel for the National Endowment for the Humanities. Plus, he loves presidential libraries. Hewitt oversaw the 1989 construction of the Richard M. Nixon Library in Yorba Linda, CA. (Hewitt was once a ghostwriter for Nixon.) P.S. In 2008, Hewitt donated $2,300 to Mitt Romney’s campaign and coined the slogan: “A vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain.”
