UnREAL is a new scripted series on Lifetime set on a TV set of a fictitious dating show, Everlasting, that looks just like ABC’s The Bachelor. It’s mostly about the people behind-the-scenes, and what they do (manipulate relationships) in order to get the most outrageous footage and the highest TV ratings. UnREAL begins at the beginning of a new season of Everlasting. Everyone on the set is surprised to see Rachel arrive. Rachel is a young producer who worked on the show last season. She did something so crazy and on-air, she’s now on probation and facing civil charges. “Yeah, be afraid, okay,” Rachel says to everyone on the set who stares at her. “Crazy is back.”
Rachel is portrayed by Shiri Appleby. She’s best known for her roles on Girls (Natalia), Chicago Fire (Clarice), and ER (Dr. Daria Wade). UnREAL airs Mondays at 10pm on Lifetime.
