Marco Rubio has a documented history of financial mismanagement — or at the very least, Rubio is no penny pincher when it comes to personal finance. Deep in debt, according to the New York Times, Senator Rubio apparently spends cash like an NBA star at a strip joint with his entourage.
There are many ways to spin Rubio’s whimsical spending, but this line from a Business Insider article is surely the ballsiest: “Rubio’s team is hoping that his financial struggles humanize him with voters.” Because you know all those voters out there struggling with money issues will feel for the man who had spent himself into massive debt, then got an $800,000 advance for a book deal and immediately went out and bought himself an $80,000 boat. Because that kind of thing happens to the common voter all the time.
