Grafton Furniture is a family business in Miami that manufactures high-end, custom designed furniture and cabinetry. For three generations, the family has maintained a tradition of fine craftsmanship which involves “old-world skills.” The product is beautiful and the business is doing fairly well financially, but in order to last another generation, Grafton Furniture needs to expand its clientele beyond the rich Floridians on Star Island and in Bal Harbour. That’s when Marcus Lemonis of the TV show The Profit walks in.
Lemonis invests $1.5 million in Grafton, and helps a patriarch break his resistance to change. Grafton Furniture is working on a new line of price-accessible, non-custom furniture called The American Dream. The Profit airs Tuesdays at 10pm on CNBC.
