A young man named Pelle Wall was determined to prove that his father, Dr. John “Johnny” Brickman Wall, killed his mother, Uta von Schwedler. The German-born, 49-year-old cancer research scientist was found dead in the bathtub of her Salt Lake City home in September 2011. Xanax was found in her system. Pelle knew his mother wouldn’t commit suicide. At the time of Uta’s death, Johnny Wall and Schwedler were going through a long and bitter divorce and custody battle over their four children. Pelle is the eldest. In court, he testified against his father.
In March 2015, Johnny Wall was found guilty of murdering his ex-wife. 48 Hours will feature a special on the investigation of Uta von Schwedler’s death on May 9 at 9pm on NBC.
