Country singer Brantley Gilbert just released a “platinum edition” of his current album Just As I Am. It has five new tracks including a remix of his 2014 hit Bottoms Up by rapper T.I. The song has been raising eyebrows among “country purists.” But that doesn’t bother Gilbert. He recently told Billboard, “I didn’t do it to piss anybody off or stir the water or give [ammunition to] the people that are on a power trip about the ‘country and rap is crap’ stuff.”
Gilbert pointed out that T.I is “a fellow Georgia artist” who he admires. Plus, Bottoms Up is “already outside of the box, so why not spice it up just a little bit and add a little bit of fun?” Gilbert is currently touring with Kenny Chesney’s Big Revivial Tour, and he’ll perform (without T.I.) at the iHeartRadio Country Festival on May 27 at 9pm on NBC.
