A 7-minute video allegedly released by someone in the hacker collective known as Anonymous targets controversial hip-hop star Kanye West and his wife Kim Kardashian. Why? Because West and Kardashian are a disaster for society, according to Anonymous–ego-plagued, vulgar and corrupting to the youth. (Just what Socrates was poisoned for.) Anonymous usually aims its firepower at greedy corporations, international banks and corrupt government activities. But this just proves the reach of Kanye and Kim. Kim Kardashian may not have actually broken the Internet, but she sure pisses off the guys who can.
The video (below) features a man wearing a Guy Fawkes mask (the Anonymous signature) blasting Kanye for “disgracing” what they stand for. Then the mask really lays into Kim Kardashian, saying she ought to be ashamed–selling her body for attention and setting a execrable example for young women, especially the couple’s own daughter. Who knew Anonymous was so conservative? Referring to the rapper invariably as Mr. West, the mask says Anonymous used to respect West, but that now he’s “just a new slave that the industry uses to help keep the population in a cycle of stupidity and distraction.” (West, worth $300 million, is a very well compensated slave, at least.) Anonymous, if it is them, seems to be entering a new phase.
