On Once Upon a Time, Mary Margaret (Snow White) and David (Prince Charming) are desperate to ensure that their child Emma grows up to be a hero. They want her to “retain her goodness.” So they visit a “kindly old hermit” who gives them an opportunity to ensure Emma’s goodness forever, but at a high cost. Once the spell is activated it cannot be undone. The hermit is the Sorcerer’s Assistant, the character based on the Goethe poem, “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.”
The hermit/apprentice is portrayed by Canadian actor Timothy Webber. He’s been in tons of TV shows in Canada. In the States he’s best known for his film roles in Seventh Son with Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore and Cypher with Lucy Liu. Once Upon A Time airs Sundays at 8pm on ABC.
