CBS basketball analyst Greg Anthony was suspended indefinitely after his arrest this week for soliciting a prostitute. Author of Good Americans Tejas Desai writes: “I imagine this ‘suspension’ is only a temporary PR move before he comes back ala Marv Albert. It’s funny our society goes through all this rigmarole just to keep up appearances.”
Once beloved basketball announcer Marv Albert was fired by NBC in 1997 after pleading guilty in a kinky assault and battery case. Albert’s plea to assault got a more serious charge against him dropped. That charge was “forced sodomy.” Albert was hired back by NBC less than two years later.
