Thomas S. Gilbert Sr. was shot in the head by his 30-year-old son at his luxury apartment on New York’s Upper East Side on Sunday afternoon. Gilbert Sr., the 70-year-old founder of Wainscott Capital Partners, was alone with his son in the apartment when he was killed, according to the NYPD.
The son was still at large late Sunday. Gilbert Sr.’s wife found the victim and called 911. Wainscott Capital Partners, founded in 2011, describes itself as an opportunistic fund. The minimum investment with the firm is $500,000 and requires a “one-year lockup period.” A 3-bedroom apartment at 20 Beekman Place, where the murder took place, rents for $6,300 per month.
