Marco Arment’s words carry a lot of weight in tech circles, and he just tore the core out of Apple. “Apple has completely lost the functional high ground,” Arment says. Though Apple’s hardware today “is amazing–it has never been better” the “software quality has taken such a nosedive in the last few years” that Arment is “deeply concerned for its future.” All that is from a blogpost in which Arment also says that his team now treats Apple’s OS and applications with the “same extreme skepticism and trepidation that conservative Windows IT departments employ.” He just compared Apple to Windows, people.
Marco Arment is lots of things, including an iPhone software developer. He was the lead developer and CTO at Tumbler for five years and also founded Instapaper. Is he right?
