Actress Zoe Saldana (Avatar, Guardians of the Galaxy) was born Zoe Yadira Saldaña Nazario in Passaic, New Jersey. Her father was from Dominican Republic, her mother is from Puerto Rico. She recently wed Italian artist Marco Perego. This week they became the parents of twin boys.
Saldana recently told Cosmo for Latinas that her children will be bilingual. “Of course [our children] will speak the languages that we speak; my sisters and I grew up learning French and speaking English and Spanish, and because of that, we’re able to understand Italian and Portuguese,” she said. “But I’m going to have to make a conscious effort to speak Spanish to my children, because I speak Spanglish.”
