Five-star linebacker Malik Jefferson of Mesquite, Texas has committed to the University of Texas Longhorns. While Texas A&M offered Jefferson a scholarship, Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin has been slow “to hire a defensive coordinator to replace Mark Snyder, whom he fired on November 28.” Jefferson said that was troublesome. Plus, Jefferson’s mom reportedly “didn’t connect” with Sumlin like she did with the other coaches. His dad was skeptical, too.
Jefferson, the No. 1-ranked outside linebacker in the class of 2015 according to 247Sports, also considered Baylor, Oklahoma, LSU, TCU and UCLA.
