Armed with a new swing coach (Chris Como) and the same old precarious health, Tiger Woods will warm up for his annual history book quest this weekend at the Hero World Challenge at Isleworth Golf & Country Club in Florida. Besides the new swing coach, Woods will have another big change in his arsenal. That big famous playful Tiger headcover will be keeping new company in Woods’ bag–covering a new Nike Vapor Speed prototype driver and knocking around against Nike Vapor Pro blade irons and Nike Vapor Speed fairway metals. (This according to Jonathan Wall at PGAtour.com.)
A decade ago, this kind of change might have been accompanied by a massive Nike ad campaign–especially just before Christmas. Equipment sales surely would have popped on the news that Tiger had made a switch. But it’s pretty quiet so far, as Woods enters his 7th straight year without a major championship. He’s also switching balls, and if you’re looking for stocking stuffers for your friends who also haven’t won major championships in a while, try Nike RZN Black. That’s what Woods is playing now.
