Earlier this month, the 22-year-old who started Skiplagged, Aktarer Zaman, held an AMA on Reddit. (Skiplagged is now being sued by United and Orbitz for publicly exposing pricing inefficiencies for air travel.) Lots of people asked lots of questions but the best came from lingolegend, who asked “What’s the cheapest flight you paid for?” Skiplagged replied: “$25.62 for a regular trip from Seattle to Orlando. This was actually just a huge pricing mistake by Delta that affected many routes earlier this year, that they honored. Skiplagged picked this up automatically faster than any other website and actually made it to the WSJ.” Lingolegend’s response: “Wow.”
Vespera asked, “What is the next thing on your schedule after this AMA?” Skipplagged wrote: “Figuring out whether I can challenge it legally (i.e. pay lawyers)… IrishReport replied, “I started a satire website (not a very good one). I’ve held back on a lot of stuff because I’m afraid of getting sued. I envy your balls.” Zaman has started a GoFundMe campaign for legal bills.
