Someone on a US Navy submarine secretly filmed three female officers while they were showering and changing clothes aboard the USS Wyoming. The video recordings “might have been distributed to some members of the crew.” A report was filed last month, and an investigation is in progress. According to CNN, “the women affected were provided assistance and the alleged perpetrators were removed from the ship pending the investigation’s results.” Note: Only three women serve aboard each sub at any one time. The subs have crews of 154. Only 24 female officers are in training to serve aboard U.S. submarines. The other submarine that has female officers aboard is the USS Georgia.
It’s been exactly three years since women have been eligible to serve on submarines. Connor: “The Navy has successfully integrated women into our aviation, surface warfare and expeditionary warfare communities,” Connor wrote in the letter. “It would be inaccurate to say that we achieved this without incident, but I can say unequivocally that we are a better force because of that integration.”
