Jeremy Lin is a devout Christian in addition to being a former basketball phenomenon. Lin’s unusual and inspirational basketball journey has taken him from Harvard University to that brief moment in time when he owned the basketball world (Linsanity!) and the bright lights of Madison Square Garden seemed to shine just for him. Now Lin–who is trying to establish himself as the Los Angeles Lakers point guard–is having a more difficult time. If God’s ways are sometimes a mystery, imagine trying to understand Kobe Bryant.
“Spiritually, I’ve really been challenged to seek humility even more each day,” Lin wrote recently at jlin7.com. (The 4-13 Lakers are a lesson, so far, in humility.) “When life is tough, it forces me to re-evaluate everything and learn to depend on God more than I initially think I need to. God continually stretches me and challenges me through basketball, and I’m just trying to live each day pleasing Him.”
