Miami Dolphins fans are putting all their eggs in the Ryan Tannehill basket after the team lost 37-24 to the (gulp) New York Jets on Sunday. It wasn’t a spectacular game for quarterback Tannehill but as ESPN reports, the “Dolphins’ immediate future rests with QB Ryan Tannehill.”
Tannehill, who currently makes $570,000 per season has one year remaining on his rookie deal which included a $7.653 million signing bonus. To keep him in 2016, the Dolphins will have to exercise an option worth about $15 million. Miami Dolphins reporter James Walker says: “Tannehill’s arrow is pointing up and, therefore, so is the Dolphins’. Continued progress from Tannehill in Year 4 makes Miami a playoff contender to watch for next season.” The 6’4” player was the 8th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft – in the same class as Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III. The Texas A&M grad was the first quarterback selected by the Dolphins in the first round since Dan Marino in 1983.
