Five “Extraordinary People” are showcased in a new CNN special report including helicopter pilot Gary Dahlen who braved smoke and flames in September to rescue 12 firefighters who were trapped by a California forest fire. The special report will air Tuesday, December 16 at 9pm.
Ron Johnson, the African American Missouri Highway Patrol Captain who was tapped by Governor Jay Nixon after Michael Brown’s death to lead the police presence in Ferguson. Johnson’s approach to bring calm was to join a protest march through the streets. Another police officer, Kevin Vickers is featured. He’s the sergeant-at-arms at Canada’s House of Commons who responded to the shooting there. He killed the shooter. Fatu Kekula is the 22-year-old caregiver in Kakata, Liberia who turned her home into a makeshift Ebola clinic. She is now in the US to finish her nursing degree. And last but not least is a name you’ve probably heard of – Kevin Durant. Remember that emotional speech he made when named NBA MVP? CNN does.
