Winnie the Pooh, the beloved character in a children’s classic is now the subject of derision. Pooh stands accused of being a pervert in the Polish town of Tuszyn–90 minutes from Warsaw. Winnie the Pooh was shot down as a candidate for the town’s official mascot because the officials in the town decided Winnie is an “inappropriately dressed bear of ‘dubious sexuality.'”
There is no information available as to why Winnie the Pooh was considered a potential mascot in the first place. Pooh is perceived as being controversial because he doesn’t have a “complete wardrobe and [is]deemed inappropriate for children.” Talk about discrimination and harsh judgment. Up till now, the uncontroversial bear’s reputation had suffered little international damage, save some minor protests about overzealous honey consumption. An unnamed official apparently has a theory as to why Pooh got pooh-poohed by the Poles, according to NBC News: “It doesn’t wear underpants because it doesn’t have a sex. It’s a hermaphrodite.” No word on what cartoon character will be chosen next.
