The Hilton Buenos Aires in Argentina has created the world’s first Barbie-themed hotel room. Everything about the posh accomodations is pink and purple. Okay, pretty much all of it is pink. The door, the key, the walls, the furniture, the drapes. The most unique amenity is the dressing area–it includes a catwalk. The spa bathroom includes Barbie approved soap and shampoo. Also in Barbie / Buenos Aires news: a provocative art exhibition of Barbies featuring the plastic fashion icon as religious figures including the Virgin Mary was cancelled due to complaints. “Barbie: The Plastic Religion” by Emiliano Paolini and Marianela Perelli was scheduled to open at the POPA gallery in October but after receiving so many threats, the artists decided to cancel the show. Paolini, who considers himself religious, was baffled by the response. He has the word “Dios” tattooed on his hand.
