After Kim Kardrdashian’s naked derriere graced the cover of Paper magazine, Kardashian posted the NSFW picture on Instagram and asked her followers to #BreakTheInternet. But as Mashable reports, “But the picture didn’t seem to actually break the internet. Instead it gave Twitter, Reddit and Instagram the mid-week boost it needed to power through the rest of the week.” Parodies of the image have been popping up all over the Internet today, with everything from Aero bars, donuts, and the Rosetta probe being photoshopped into memes.
It seems the the photoshoot was designed for no other reason than generate buzz. “For our winter issue, we gave ourselves one assignment: Break The Internet,” comments Paper Magazine. “There is no other person that we can think of who is up to the task than one Kim Kardashian West. A pop culture fascination able to generate headlines just by leaving her house, Kim is what makes the web tick. We tapped legendary French photographer Jean-Paul Goude to recreate his iconic ‘Champagne Incident‘ shot.” Notoriety is lifeblood to Kardashian, so I am sure she thinks the memes are just fine. Except if someone Photoshops Jen Selter’s bum over hers.
