Singer/songwriter Taylor Swift doesn’t see herself as an expert on love, though many of the headlines throughout her career have focused on all the famous men she has dated. Maybe she feels she is perceived as a spokesperson on romance and needs to clear the air publicly. In an interview with Lucky Magazine in the December/January issue, Swift did just that through humor–nicely balanced by self reflection.
Coffee comes first, then love–could be her new motto. (And a motto for Swifties everywhere?) “Coffee’s a big part of my life…So if I could just find one person who I felt that way about–the way I feel about coffee–then I think I’d be in a content relationship.” Since many Swifties hang on her every word, the beloved singer is careful to help them manage expectations. “I think that no matter what you find in terms of happiness and compatibility, there’s always going to be a struggle attached to it.” And then she very smartly admits her own ineptitude, something that will only convince her fans she knows more than she lets on. “But then again, I know nothing now,” Swift attests. “I know legitimately nothing about lasting relationship experiences because I don’t have them.” Well, she does with her fans. That relationship appears rock solid–they’re all going to be together for a long time.
