Michael Phelps’ former love interest Taylor Chandler doesn’t know anything about paragraph breaks, but she’s an expert at the reveal. Her long November 13 Facebook post included revelations about being intersex, growing up with a famous father, spending a month in jail (where she says she was raped), her gender corrective surgery, the fact that she has never “identified as transgender,” and that she had never felt so “comfortable and accepted in every way” as she did with 18-time gold medal winner Michael Phelps.
Chandler rocketed to the media’s attention because she was with Phelps when he was busted for a DUI on September 30. Twelve years older than Phelps she was called the cougar at first, but then when she identified as “intersex,” the media put even more fuel in Chandler’s rocket. Phelps was sent to rehab for six weeks, and so has been off the grid. But the relationship is apparently over. Chandler told the Daily Beast helpfully that “Intersex is an umbrella term that’s kind of replaced hermaphrodite, which is politically incorrect. Intersex is actually the umbrella over thirty-plus sets of variations of birth anomalies, but what it boils down to is: you’re a combination of both genders.” The information was missing from her Tinder profile. In fairness, there is no box to check for it.
