“Too busy raising children.” “We had our cigarettes and our cocktails and we were happy.” That’s two of the reasons why the grandmothers getting stoned in a new video had never smoked weed before. (And yet we know people who smoke weed because they have kids and cocktails, but nevermind.) The 6-minute video, produced by Cut Video, shows the very lovely grandmas taking bong hits and pretty much just being high. It was filmed in Washington, where smoking marijuana is now legal. As they toke up one grandma says to the other, “Put your whole face on there, do it like you mean it!”
It seems like a funny idea, but grandmothers these days likely grew up in the Sixties, so what’s really remarkable is finding three grandmas who hadn’t indulged sometime between when the Beatles shared their weed with Bob Dylan and now. You can always try to make up for lost time, though. As one grandma says toward the end of the video: “I would do it again.” She’s believable in her conviction too. The filmmakers are a little mean-spirited though: they supplied chips but no pizza.
