Fireweed Farms of Prosser, Washington sold about 300 pounds of pot during the state’s first marijuana auction. Bidders were allowed to smell the buds before bidding.
The marijuana was planted in May and harvested between September and October. Randy Williams, owner of Fireweed Farms, said he held the auction to “get rid of it all quick” so he could spend time with his grandson. He said some of the proceeds, about $14,000, will go to local schools.
