Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss has taken to her blog to write about her co-star Phaedra Parks and her incarcerated husband Apollo Nida. Burruss wrote that “the justice system can sometimes be harder on black men,” referring to the eight year sentence Apollo received, and has just started serving, for bank, mail and wire fraud. Kandi didn’t say that Apollo doesn’t deserve to go to jail. What she believes is that “a lot of black men who have committed non-violent crimes get longer sentences than needed.”
Shortly after Apollo reported to jail, Phaedra announced that they were divorcing. Kandi says she’s found herself “in the middle of their marriage crisis.” Kandi explained, “I’ve always heard that when a married couple goes through a divorce the people close to them end up going through the divorce with them. I never understood what that meant before, but I do now.” Maybe Kandi needs to take a step back, and focus on her own marriage. She and her newlywed groom Todd still don’t see eye-t0-eye on Kandi’s mother and her disapproval–and you know Mama Joyce isn’t going to leave them alone.
