The NFL signed a $400 million commitment to help promote Microsoft Surface tablets and the announcers called them iPads during numerous broadcasts. It was probably unavoidable, natural slips of the tongues. The iPad, after all, has become synonymous with tablet computing.
But during last night’s election coverage on CNN, commentators were shown using their Microsoft Surface tablets as stands for their iPads! Check out the tweet below. Is it possible that in the future, sponsorship deals will fade as people demand to actually use the products they want? No way. But CNN has got to get better at hiding this kind of thing. It’s no mere slip of the tongue–that’s outright brand insubordination. Btw, Adam, who tweeted the pic, felt “kinda bad” that his tweet was popular. “I really like Surface!” he wrote.
