Okay, when did high school teachers having sex with their students start becoming a thing? Why is the Internet filled with all these attractive women who have seduced minors, and why are some of the responses filled with laughter? (When a man rapes an underage girl, people generally don’t find it funny.) The latest scandals involve a Washington substitute teacher who had sex with a student on her first day of work, and a Texas teacher who had an affair with a cheerleader. According to reports, the Washington teacher, Symone Greene “performed oral sex on the 17-year-old behind her teacher’s desk after he asked her to have sex with him seven times — the same number that is on his football jersey.” Meanwhile, Ashley Zehnder, a “biology teacher and assistant cheerleading coach” (insert tasteless 1980s sex comedy joke here) allegedly “had sex .. all summer long” with a 17-year-old male student. “According to the student, Zehnder was the assistant cheer coach at the school and he was a member of the school’s competition cheer squad. He told officers with the district’s police department that the relationship began when he lost his cellphone and used the teacher’s phone to locate his. He saved Zehnder’s phone numbers and they began texting.”
She also allegedly took a naked selfie and sent it to him via Snapchat, and, probably because he’s a teenaged boy, “the student saved the picture on his phone and later distributed it to a handful of friends at the school.” Zehnder faces a charge of “an improper relationship with a student, a second-degree felony,” while Greene was charged with first-degree sexual assault.
