Jean-Louis Moncet, the French Formula One announcer told a radio station that “the problem for Michael was not the hit, but the mounting of the GoPro camera that he had on his helmet that injured his brain.” Schumacher, an intrepid Formula One driver was injured in a life-threatening skiing accident in December of last year. An earlier report in the Telegraph considered the idea that the camera strapped to Schumacher’s helmet may have damaged the helmet in the crash, leaving Schumacher exposed. That report told how “The helmet completely broke. It was in at least two parts.”
Schumacher was in a medically induced coma until June and is still recovering. The comments by Moncet are the first to mention GoPro by name. The mention was enough to hurt GoPro shares, which faded in Monday’s early trading.
