Co-stars for the 1980s TV series Dukes of Hazzard, John Schneider and Tom Wopat, have recorded a holiday album called Home for Christmas. Most of the songs are traditional Christmas songs including I’ll Be Home for Christmas and Santa Claus Is Coming To Town but there’s also one particularly strange track that runs just 13 seconds, it’s called Ponch and John — the characters of the two motorcycle cops in the Dukes of Hazzards’ rival TV show CHiPS. The album will drop October 28.
“Jazz fans and serious musicians will appreciate what we’ve done with these tunes,” said Wopat. “And, of course, I love singing with John Schneider. The timbre of our voices match, the harmonies blend so easily. Plus, he’s a barrel of laughs.” New Yorkers can hear the duo perform at Joe’s Pub at the Public Theater on December 2 at 9:30.
