The fictional character Andy is the “manny” – the male nanny – of Joe, infant son of Gloria (Sofia Vergara) and Jay (Ed O’Neill) on the hit comedy Modern Family. Last season Andy, played by Adam DeVine, was quickly befriended by most of the Dunphy family, except Jay who thinks he’s weird which makes sense because Andy is a lot like Phil (Ty Burrell) who Jay also thinks is weird.
We don’t know a lot about Andy other than he grew up in Utah and has a girlfriend in the US Coast Guard–although he now has feelings for Haley, Phil’s daughter played by Sarah Hyland. Modern Family co-creator Christopher Lloyd told Speakeasy that he has big plans for DeVine playing Andy. “He will be a very prominent part of our group.” If DeVine looks familiar it’s because he also stars in two Comedy Central shows: Workaholics and his stand-up show Adam DeVine’s House Party.
