The Dominican Republic has banned Miley Cyrus from performing in the country. Her concerts have been deemed vulgar (sexualized grinding, crotch grabbing, etc.). But it’s not just the Dominican Republic who’s offended by Cyrus’ on-stage antics. Her recent nationally televised performance is being investigated right here in the United States.
The Federal Communications Commission is probing the NBC special Miley Cyrus: Bangerz Tour for indecency. During the July taped and edited performance, Miley Cyrus thrust herself against a costumed Abraham Lincoln, and romped around in a giant bed with barely dressed men and women, among other things. “NBC put Miley on knowing full well it would generate controversy,” said Dan Gainor, vice president of business and culture at the Media Research Center. “Unless the fine is several million dollars, they will view it as a cost of doing business as a ‘hip’ network.”
