Michelle Duggar, star of TLC’s reality TV show, 19 Kids and Counting, has spoken out against the rights of transgender people. When her town of Fayetteville, Arkansas was considering a new law that would “protect citizens against discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodation on the basis of their sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic background, marital status or veteran status,” Duggar called transgender people “child predators.”
Mary J Moss, a mother of a 16-year-old transgender child, is trying to appeal to Michelle Duggar via an article she wrote on The HuffingtonPost. “I beg of you and your followers to educate yourselves before speaking such hateful and ignorant words again… Your ignorance Michelle could be hurtful to the children you claim to want to protect.” P.S. The Fayetteville City Council voted to approve the rights ordinance anyway.
