The Big Bang Theory’s Johnny Galecki will star with Anna Friel (Pushing Daisies), Oliver Platt and Angelica Huston in the horror-comedy film, Master Cleanse. Galecki’s character is heartbroken and decides to “join a spiritual retreat designed to cleanse negative toxins from his body – only to discover the cleanse releases something far greater than toxins and traumatic experiences.”
The film’s Facebook page describes Master Cleanse as: “a potent brew of dark humour and David Cronenberg-style body-horror.” Note: Cronenberg (Scanners, The Fly, A History of Violence) is also known as the “King of Venereal Horror” or the “Baron of Blood.” Master Cleanse is written and directed by Cronenberg fan Bobby Miller, a short film director known for films like TUB which premiered at Sundance in 2010. The protagonist in TUB, Paul, jerks off in the shower and unbeknownst to him impregnates the bath tub. The tub gives birth to an alien creature and Paul is desperate to get rid of it. There’s no doubt about it, Master Cleanse is going to be a creepy role for Galecki — far from his days of playing straight man Dr. Leonard Hofstadter.
