Social media users went into withdrawal and got as cranky as a two-year old when Facebook crashed this morning. Within hours of the glitch and with no end in sight, users were using Twitter to moan via its #facebookdown tag. There were almost 16,000 mentions of the crash in less than twenty minutes.
Several people saw the lighter side. There was plenty of ‘go outside into the sun’ commentary. “Is this what the 90s felt like?” asked one person. One tweet read simply “8/1/14 NEVER FORGET”, while another was “Facebook is Down. All hail the most productive 5 minutes. EVER!!”. Actor Zach Braff asked “How will I know if my aunt enjoyed her salad at Applebee’s last night?”
